Training and Movember Fun!

So here we are again. The beginning of another season!
Having the opportunity to do some gnarly cross riding and off road running is the best part of this time of year, I love it. Seeing all of the group regularly is awesome as well. Just starting up and were already headed up island for some fun and work!  Focusing on my moustache growing skills as well this year, it has developed since last year.. not by much though. Most people may find it embarrassing to walk around with this on their face. Its for a great cause! I also like the extra attention. And being creepy.
Going to be a great year!!

Be breezy.

One Fast Hair Cut

Swim
Bike
Run

I got an email from back home and the subject line said "Sam's new haircut".  This is what I found when I opened it.  This is Sam from Victoria BC.  He's 11 years old and he trains with my old triathlon team Kelly's Kids.  Part of the preparation for his next race involved an inspirational new hair cut.  A sweet way to represent the sport!

Good luck to Sam and the rest of Kelly's Kids going to the Apple Triathlon in Kelowna next weekend (one of my favorite races).  The Apple Triathlon is also Canadian Nationals for the older guys so good luck to them as well!  If only I could be in two places at once.

I also want to add that Christine had a very gusty race today!  She lead out of the water and was wiped out on the bike.  She then picked herself up, got her chain back on then managed to run her way up from 2 Min's back to 14th place. A very inspiring finish.

SINGAPORE...

View of our swim course among the hundreds of ships.

So I have been in Singapore for 4 days now. When arriving in Singapore you notice certain things.. it's very hot and humid, it's very beautiful and it's full of very nice people.

So far it has been very difficult to keep my blog updated. Training and travelling to the venues for my swim, bike and run workouts keeps me busy.  Right now I am really focused on preparing for my upcoming race but thankfully, today I have found some down time to do a quick blog!

The other night, team Canada was treated to a big celebration dinner...it was incredible.  I really feel honoured to have this opportunity,  to have a chance to represent Canada and to be here with young athletes from all around the world is amazing.  I believe sport has taken my life in such a positive direction.  I really hope more and more young people can realize the value of sport in their lives after watching the games and embrace it. Anyone can do some type of sport and have a healthy lifestyle...and everyone should!

Catch Up Time

Some fun at the Sri!!  I went in tired and came out tired.  Great sign of fitness for me considering all that was going on at the time.  A little stomach bug equals.. alot of things I don't want to get into!  Anyhow, Hilary and I represented NTC placing first in both our races.  Congrats to Lehm Maguire of Kelly's Kids for an awesome race out there as well.   Nice to see some fast guys coming up.   Huge thumbs up to Connor Foreman for sticking out a very unlucky race filled with falls and fails.. happens to the best of us!   And last but not least Matt Sharpe for winning his first ever olympic distance triathlon... So proud.

I happen to be typing this post in YVR at 12 am trying to stay awake!  Christine and I finally fly out to Singapore in just 2 more hours.. at 2 am.   Very excited and ready to go.  The 14 hour flight is not going to be the highlight of my trip but it will definitely be an experience.   I believe all my time spent at the Youth Olympic Games will be an experience.   A great stepping stone in my career as a triathlete.

GO CANADA!

Most consistent since ever.  Today I had a lovely 6 hour nap, and tomorrow I have just one more day of hard work.  Looking forward to having a down day to relax and unwind from a good block.  Only 10 days until I leave to Singapore for the games, everything is going well as far as race prep goes!  Off to bed now.. at 8:15..HP.

Race Deeeets.

Swim... Went well for Sharpe and I but Cole was definitely having an off day.

Bike... Our pack was amazing.. Worked awesome together, Efficient. Very silent as we road on the most boring course imaginable.

Run... Slight crampage. Not fun. Sub par performance for me. We live and we learn.

Lots of motivation heading into Singapore.

Congrats to Matt and Christine for back to back wins! And to the rest of NTC for an impressive day of racing out there!

Alice in Wonderland

Aussiiiiiiii Burg.

Alice in Wonderland. Saw it last night, not the best. But all the talking that lg did about imagining six impossible things before breakfast made me laugh.. Here are six impossible things you could think about before breakfast.

1. Marc only having one piece of cheese cake.
2. Someone in Victoria making a better roo burger than Kiki.
3. Not seeing Cole's crack at practice everyday.
4. Matt not being whipped like cream by Alison.
5. Somebody having more entrancingly beautiful eyes than Jeffery.
6. Andrew racing without his trusty head band.

Just some things to think about.

Aaron Thomas

Aaron Thomas is a genuine hero of our time for reasons beyond every ones comprehension. Although, one reason is because he drives me around when I am stranded. I would just like to say thank you Aaron, Your awesome. Don't ever change. Don't even worry about it.

That is all.

Sponsor a Starving Athlete

As you read this, hundreds of athletes are spending what little money they have on running shoes, bike parts/maintenance, tri suits/swim suits, snorkels, goggles and flippers. This leaves them little to no cash to spend on food. (triathletes are skinny for a reason!) Help the cause. Sponsor an athlete before its too late!

Somebody like hmm.. maybe me?
