One Fast Hair Cut

Swim
Bike
Run

I got an email from back home and the subject line said "Sam's new haircut".  This is what I found when I opened it.  This is Sam from Victoria BC.  He's 11 years old and he trains with my old triathlon team Kelly's Kids.  Part of the preparation for his next race involved an inspirational new hair cut.  A sweet way to represent the sport!

Good luck to Sam and the rest of Kelly's Kids going to the Apple Triathlon in Kelowna next weekend (one of my favorite races).  The Apple Triathlon is also Canadian Nationals for the older guys so good luck to them as well!  If only I could be in two places at once.

I also want to add that Christine had a very gusty race today!  She lead out of the water and was wiped out on the bike.  She then picked herself up, got her chain back on then managed to run her way up from 2 Min's back to 14th place. A very inspiring finish.

SINGAPORE...

View of our swim course among the hundreds of ships.

So I have been in Singapore for 4 days now. When arriving in Singapore you notice certain things.. it's very hot and humid, it's very beautiful and it's full of very nice people.

So far it has been very difficult to keep my blog updated. Training and travelling to the venues for my swim, bike and run workouts keeps me busy.  Right now I am really focused on preparing for my upcoming race but thankfully, today I have found some down time to do a quick blog!

The other night, team Canada was treated to a big celebration dinner...it was incredible.  I really feel honoured to have this opportunity,  to have a chance to represent Canada and to be here with young athletes from all around the world is amazing.  I believe sport has taken my life in such a positive direction.  I really hope more and more young people can realize the value of sport in their lives after watching the games and embrace it. Anyone can do some type of sport and have a healthy lifestyle...and everyone should!

Catch Up Time

Some fun at the Sri!!  I went in tired and came out tired.  Great sign of fitness for me considering all that was going on at the time.  A little stomach bug equals.. alot of things I don't want to get into!  Anyhow, Hilary and I represented NTC placing first in both our races.  Congrats to Lehm Maguire of Kelly's Kids for an awesome race out there as well.   Nice to see some fast guys coming up.   Huge thumbs up to Connor Foreman for sticking out a very unlucky race filled with falls and fails.. happens to the best of us!   And last but not least Matt Sharpe for winning his first ever olympic distance triathlon... So proud.

I happen to be typing this post in YVR at 12 am trying to stay awake!  Christine and I finally fly out to Singapore in just 2 more hours.. at 2 am.   Very excited and ready to go.  The 14 hour flight is not going to be the highlight of my trip but it will definitely be an experience.   I believe all my time spent at the Youth Olympic Games will be an experience.   A great stepping stone in my career as a triathlete.

GO CANADA!
